CL7 and the Ewing Sarcoma Institute Striking out Ewing’s Sarcoma Together
We are beyond pleased to share news of our collaboration with The Ewing Sarcoma Institute (ESI). Founded earlier this year, ESI is dedicated to radically improving outcomes for Ewing Sarcoma patients by uniting the global community to accelerate collaborative scientific discovery and development of breakthrough treatments.
The focus of our live appeal at our 3rd annual CL7 Oktoberfest was to support ESI’s Omics Intelligence Hub (OIH) and two world-renowned researchers who are leading the charge. This global database will unite Ewing’s Sarcoma patient data accessible to researchers, pharmaceutical companies and other stakeholders and will fast track therapy development by cutting off years of research time, time that many patients don’t have to spare.
We were truly honored to have two very special individuals with us that evening who are leading the charge from the Institute to deliver our Live Appeal. Co-Director of ESI, Dr. Patrick Grohar, is a physician-scientist and trailblazer in the Ewing’s landscape and has dedicated his medical career to advancing research and better outcomes for individuals facing Ewing’s Sarcoma. He is also a distinguished member of our CL7 Medical Advisory Board. Also with us that evening was the head of Patient Advocacy for the Ewing’s Sarcoma Institute, Carol Basso. Carol lost her beautiful daughter Anna to Ewing’s in 2011 and has made it her life’s work to advocate for Ewing’s patients, act as a sounding board for families navigating the unthinkable and raising millions of dollars for research through her 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation, a true love letter to her daughter and all of those battling Ewing’s.
All proceeds from our live appeal will go towards this groundbreaking initiative developed by the Ewing’s Sarcoma Institute that will transform Ewing Sarcoma Research forever- the first-ever global database uniting patient data worldwide. Again, this database run by leading Ewing’s Sarcoma Investigative researchers will accelerate therapy development by eliminating year of duplicated research, enable more effective treatment through shared global insights and improve patient care on an unprecedented international scale.
Total raise during our Live appeal was $208,000! including a direct match by ESI Founder Charles Nearburg who lost his son Rhett to Ewing’s. Charles has made it his unyielding mission to improve outcomes for Ewing’s Sarcoma patients through cutting-edge research.
